Theatrical Puppetry performance The story of Ramayana In the scene “Maiyarap casts a spell on Prince Rama’s troop.  After several battles with Totsakan, Prince Rama is finally encamped with his simian troop just outside the rampart of Lonka and is preparing for an assault on the city. Totsakan seeks the help of Maiyarap. Maiyarap helps Totsakan by using sorcery to put Prince Rama’s troop to sleep, then sneaking in to capture Prince Rama and carrying him off to be incarcerated in the Underworld. When Hanuman awakes, he sets off in pursuit of Maiyarap. On his way, he is stopped by what appears to be a merman called Machanu. Without knowing the fact that they are father and son, they fight.
