The Best Traditional Performance |

The Traditional Thai Puppet Theater Company has given many performances overseas. Perhaps one of the most notable was the performance given at the Tenth World Festival of Puppet Art in Prague, June 2006.
World Festival of Puppet Art is a biannual competition and International Jury, takes place at Prague, Czech Republic. The Traditional Thai Puppet Theater Company created a traditional theatrical puppet play of the Myth of Rahoo and the Lunar Eclipse based on Thai original myth. That was the first time that Thailand was taking part in the World Festival of Puppet Art.
The selection of competitors began with the viewing by the judges of the Festival over 200 digital recording of performances sent by puppet artist from around the globe. Of these, 33 troupes of puppeteers from 28 countries were selected and invited to perform at the World Festival of Puppet Art in Prague between the 1st and 9th June 2006. The Traditional Thai Puppet Theater Company performed at City Library on the 5th of June. The results of the competition were announced on the 10th June. There were eight categories of winners: best animation, best actor, best director, best scenery and puppet design, best original performance, best artistic creation, best performance, and best traditional performance. The Traditional Thai Puppet Theater Company won first prize for Best Traditional Performance. |
